Does this mean India will have a greater need for the chinese vaccines when they are available?

According to BBC, India does possess approximately half the vaccine production capacity of the entire world. Once something working does come up, they will likely be able to vaccinate most citizens relatively quickly barring some extreme unforeseen logistical problems.

That is being naive, you are not factoring in the massive savings governments and company pension funds are making from COVID19 killing off pensioners en mass.

One really have to wonder if high elderly mortality rates wasn’t actually a feature and not a bug of a lot of the government planning for many of the more conservative governments in power.

The British were ridiculously negligent (to the point of defying credulity) in actively transferring patients from hospitals to care homes without any COVID19 screening beforehand ‘to free up beds’. It’s so bad I cannot even think of a more deliberately ridiculous and self defeating example to use to mock this decision.

The number of deaths in British care homes from COVID19 is nothing short of horrific, with those deaths not even being counted in national statistics until a public backlash.

In the US, it’s even more blatant, with deputy governors actually telling the elderly they should take one for the team and just die.

They've already started

The Company today reached a $750m agreement with CEPI and Gavi to support the manufacturing, procurement and distribution of 300 million doses of the potential vaccine, with delivery starting by the end of the year. In addition, AstraZeneca reached a licensing agreement with SII to supply one billion doses for low-and-middle-income countries, with a commitment to provide 400 million before the end of 2020.

I hate to disagree with you. But on this occasion I will say you're wrong on this. He is no idiot politician.

He is a calculated shrewd politician. His statements are calculated to push his own agenda. For instant, he previously blamed the Chinese. Because it suits his racist agenda. Now he wants to Re-open the UK economy. Because it suits his agenda of not having have to pay for people not working. And push UK further into debt!

Come to think of It, it is exactly a page out if Trump's playbook. Well no surprise there, since they both are from the same wing of the political spectrum.

He's an idiot in common sense terms. The scale for sociopath politicians utilizes a different measure.

As a relative compaison, I'm very surprised at Ontario's premier who said reopening the economy was a top priority. He's taken an incredibly slow and measured approach for someone who is considered "right-wing" (leader of the provincial Conservative party).

It is also surprising how great the disbelief can be that the elected government is simply incapable. And how long it takes for this knowledge to spread.

I think you made a post that robust democracies depend on educated people. I think statistically speaking, there are more post-secondary graduates now than ever, I guess degrees really are not worth the paper they are printed on.
