From Singapore: A cluster was formed by 40 medical staffs and patients infected with Indian Covid variant.
9 fully vaccinated staffs ( with Pfizer vaccine) only mild to no symptoms.
Of the remaining 31 cases, 7 required oxygen support and a 88 year old patient died.

Looks like vaccine might not prevent infection, but at least effective in preventing severe infection.
9 out of 40 had no or mild symptoms. So the Pfizer vaccine is 23% effective against severe infections of the Indian variants?

Think about it.

As per Stiglitz, Pfizer is deliberately restricting vaccine production in order to keep a monopoly and charge higher prices.

If I were BioNTech, I'd be furious at Pfizer. Remember that BioNTech is controlled by former academics.

So BioNTech would welcome the introduction of Fosun producing a billion doses.
It is impossible for Fosun to export. The contract for Fosun is clearly to supply Greater China area and the rest of world is left to Pfizer.

Now China could apply diplomatic pressure to alter the contract but thats unlikely

I'm laughing at that statement

The Fosun factory making the BioNTech vaccines is located in Singapore.
Singapore and Europe both use the vaccine.

If Pfizer doesn't step up production and Fosun can supply vaccines, then the respective governments will override the BioNTech-Pfizer contract on national security grounds. BioNTech probably would be pleased.

Remember that the US government uses National Security laws - which stops US companies from fulfilling contracts to export vaccine production materials.

After all, that is what the US government has done when it prevented US companies from fulfilling contracts to export vaccine production materials.
I didn't say anything else. This is diplomatic pressure or sovereign right. Ofc the govs can decide to do what they want. It depends on how much will Pfizer be able to export

COVID materials are not commercial transactions

Every country is asserting sovereign rights, diplomatic pressure and national security laws.

The other question is what happens when Fosun offers the same vaccine at half the cost of the overpriced Pfizer version.
