Well under control really means not testing and reporting. It costs NT $7,000 ($250) for testing. In addition, anyone tests positive with a travel history would ultimately deem import cases regardless how long they have been to Taiwan.

The 50% efficacy rate is the worse case scenario, conducted on medical workers with maximum exposure to the virus. Yet, the western media kept pounding on the number without giving the proper context. Also the accusation of less transparency is ridiculous because the company had released the Phase I & Phase II clinical trials data early on. The Phase III studies had been conducted in multiple countries outside China with varying results due to different controlling conditions and trial populations. The company simply had to collect all the data and analyze them to make sure they can conclude consistently. The fact that the Chinese company was relatively late in releasing the Phase III results than some of the western companies even though they started early is simply because China had quickly eradicated the virus and the company was unable to conduct one consistent Phase III clinical trial in China or in one study.
The western media's disinformation is not only sinister, but may also slow down the adoption of the vaccine in developing countries, where the absolute highest efficacy rate is the least of concerns, resulting potentially more cases and deaths. When China mapped out its vaccine strategy last year, it carefully selected multiple routes to spread the risks, taking into considerations of development risk, timing of availability, safety, cost and ease of administration particularly in the developing countries. The bogus focus on high efficacy rate and transparency while hoarding its own vaccines is not just hypocritical, but can be fatal too.
