You could try Opensuse.

Personally, I use Debian and Opensuse. I've never bothered with Ubuntu.

Have had tried Debian; I noticed the following things in these OS. first, hardware driver's availability. None of the OS I downloaded has driver for my VGA. I install it the HP Omni XE2 laptop, and my TP-Link TL-WN620G wireless LAN card is not running. I search the web and found that because the hardware manufacturer doesn't develop driver for Linux, we need to use Windows' driver to install and modify it. This might take a long time to study it before I could make it work. Both Ubuntu and Debian take up 40% ~ 60% of my CPU resource though I use a very old laptop (Intel Celeron 466 Mhz, 256MB of RAM).

256MB of RAM? time for a new computer my friend.

btw Microsoft just announced pricing info for Windows 7. The upgrade package for Home Premium certainly look tempting.

Well, this computer was bought quite many years ago (but still in good condition), and currently is obsolete. That's why it is kept at my place because no one wants it. The one I use has 2GB of RAM and 18.5" LCD :D

However, Linux based OS seem to have hardware drivers problem. I've downloaded OpenSuse DVD, and am going to try it out this week. This is the third Linux I've downloaded so far after Ubuntu and Debian.

Wow! I don't think even Opensuse can help you there. If you want more resources to be freed up, you could try turning off all the desktop effects.

"Sex" Will Be Taboo On Chinese Internet From July 1
June 26, 2009 | Print | Email Email | Category: Internet, Law & Policy

The Ministry of Health of China has published the "Regulation on Internet Medical and Health Information Service Management", which states that websites are prohibited to spread pornographic contents under the guise of sexual research or education.

The regulation, which will be effective from July 1, 2009, points out that the health channels of comprehensive portal websites in China should not provide sexual research content services, and medical and health websites engaged in sexology research should only be open to relevant clinical and research professionals.

The regulation states that websites that want to provide sex knowledge propaganda should provide the sources of the information in prominent positions. The information, which needs to be checked by medical and health professionals, should not be transferred or adapted from illegal publications; contents of sexology research, including sexual psychology, sexual ethics, sexual medicine, and sex-related treatments, should not be glamorized in the propaganda; and websites are prohibited from spreading pornographic content.

It is still unclear what kind of impact the art world will feel from this new regulation in regards to photos and pictures of nude humans.

It appears that China has now banned gold farming. Depending on what side you are on, Blizzard fans can see this as either bad or a blessing.
