European approval for China's C919 plane needs 3-6 years, regulator says

The timing of 3-6 years goes well with COMAC's planning. COMAC needs more than 6 years to deliver confirmed orders just for existing orders from Chinese airlines.

Current confirmed order stands at 851, and Letter of Intend/MOU stands at 318, another 185 with no mention of confirmed or MOU, total is 1,356 C919.

Any additional new orders probably have to wait for 10 years for delivery if all letter of intent/MOU are converted to confirmed orders.

There is no news about more C919 deliveries in the past 2 -3 months. Is there a problem? Is the delivery on hold?
Lol I know right? Crazy to think their objective was to produce 50 C919 this year. Lol at this rate, I think they will deliver less aircrafts compared to last year.

Perhaps the planes are already manufactured and assembled but are waiting for important components like says the Leap-IC engines.

you misread the news..

COMAC informed the suppliers to increase the production of parts/components up to 50 units annually. it doesn't mean they will produce 50 units of C919 this year.. last year total 13 C919 manufactured.

regarding deliveries this year.

there is been restructuring and many domestic parts added in supply chain.. soon C919 deliveries will start.. so bit delay is not a big deal.

LEAP-1C comes from Safran facilities , France. they didn't disrupt Engine deliveries.

as of May, 2025.. almost all components/parts of C919 currently producing in mainland China except Engines and some avionics/materials.

Restructuring and in the process disrupting C-919 production and delivery for 5 months or more is incoherent.
Plenty of Leap-1C in stock, at least I am not buying it. Even Boeing and Airbus are facing shortage.
Looks like another MA-700 episode in the making except China own proprietary CJ-1000AX is waiting for CAAC certification.
So I won't be surprised when the delivery of C919 is restored, they may be equipped with CJ-1000 engine instead of Leap 1C.

COMAC has up their target delivery of C919 to 75 for this year. We are wondering how on earth can COMAC achieved this, not unless CJ-1000A is currently being mass produced. Something is happening.

BTW US GE and France Safran are equal partners in CFM international.
GE is in fact a key partner in the LEAP program, responsible and contributing to the design, development, and production, along with Safran.

It is possible upgrades to the current manufacturing centre have limited the production of new C919s

Or in other words why would you stop new revenue incoming to wait to create an indigenous supply chain? Unless the risk of sanctions has been made explicitly against you.

LEAP-1C Engines continue to serve C919 for foreseeable future. its a done deal.. unless America completely cut off Engine supply and force COMAC to switch to domestic option. very very less chances

as per the latest AECC statement, '' it is not possible to replace all LEAP engines with CJ-1000A. this is just an alternative option in order to secure supply line. CJ-1000A exceed all the parameters during evaluation and testing. and soon Engine will be mounted on C919 wings for final test ''.
