A little off Topic , but I just have to ask. who is this "China Observer " He/They seem to trash everything about China. In the last month topics about China's economy is about to crash, C19 and J20 and BYD are crap and China has ruined HK have appeared on my You Tube searches.
Its another Falun Gong outlet. They have many youtube channels like Epoch Times, Vision Times and New Tang Dynasty. And several more smaller Falun Gong affiliated channels. They often times try to hide their connections with the Falun Gong to seem more credible.

A bit of a shame that the C919 isn't mature enough to fully take advantage of Boeing's current issues and Airbus's massive backlog. It's still gonna benefit from it greatly no doubt, but imagine if there was hundreds of C919s flying for years already and COMAC being able to make dozens of c919s a year when the current issues that plague Boeing is happening. They could made a really big push to foreign airliners. As it as, they're struggling to produce enough for the Chinese market as it is and the fleet still hasn't flown enough to really prove it's safely record to the public.

As it is I fear that by the time the C919 is being mass produced in sufficient numbers and has enough air-time to prove it's safety record that it's attractive to even western airlines, Boeing could have repaired it's reputation by that time and Airbus will no doubt have greatly expanded production to cover it's massive backlog of orders.

It's a shame, it's basically the perfect time for COMAC to enter the market but they're unable to take full advantage of it, maybe if this incidents had happened 5 years later...

COMAC already have more than 1,200 orders and option to fullfil, it is not a shame to built up their reputation steadily over the next 10 years. Over expansion of production for a new manufacturer before gaining vital experience to perfect their product may do more harm than good. There will always be some bugs in C919 that will need to be ironed out over next few years.

Boeing's misfortune should be taken as a lesson on how not to rush your product big time before all bugs are eliminated.

That's my point, the C919 isn't mature enough to fully take advantage of Boeing's current mistakes. If the current issues with Boeing had happened in the late 2020s, the c919 would be in a much better position to take advantage of the situation. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity of a perfect storm of bad PR for Boeing and airbus having it's orderbook filled until 2030 but the C919 is 5 years too early to do much with it.
