Hey everyone, we need to stop with this UASF stuff!

The CGTN English broadcast specifically called the 2 big ones “Unmanned Air Dominance Fighters”.

That’s the name, UADF, we should go with it.

Like we should even delete the posts (mine included) so they’re not on the internet lol. We do, after all, shape a lot of the anglophone world’s terminology when it comes to the PLA.

I do agree with this; I think going with the official English language chosen translation for the terms in Chinese would be useful.

UADF as a term is also somewhat more forgiving if one typos it (UASF may be typo'd as USAF too easily and lead to obvious confusion).

That said I think one can also be forgiven calling it a "high end CCA/UCAV".

The Type A and Type B CCAs being the most exciting, it worths dwelling some more on what they bring to the table. They seem supersonic, supercruising, VLO, possibly bays for 6 AAMs or even more and seemingly optimized for agility. As of now the general limit of manned fighters is 9g, but without a pilot the g limit could be pushed up to whatever limit permitted by the latest materials. Supposed they are rated at 12g, this will not only allow them to dodge enemy missiles easier, but would also absolutely destroy any unfortunate enemy pilots finding themselves dogfighting the chinese UADFs.

And as it looks like now, the american CCAs, small, slow, limited payload and sensors, would just be easy meat for the chinese UADFs, they'd be obliterated in no time. Robot wars for real, and China has an overwhelming advantage. But China need to keep pushing forward development and deployment even more to cement and even widening further it's technological advantage.

So for high tier electronic war, ISR, weapons targeting and guidance sensor network missions there are:
  • WZ-7 > non-stealth, subsonic, HALE
  • WZ-8 > stealthy, >mach 3, high altitude
  • WZ-9 > non-stealth, subsonic, HALE
  • CH-7 > stealth, subsonic, HALE
  • WL-10 >non-stealth, subsonic, HALE

Air to ground focused:
  • GJ-11 > stealth, subsonic
  • GJ-21 (navalised GJ-11)

Multirole unmanned fighter "high tier, heavy CCA":
  • Type A > stealth, supersonic, heavy payload and probably fighter ranged
  • Type B > stealth, supersonic, heavy payload and probably fighter ranged
  • One unknown high tier heavy CCA they didn't reveal today but was caught on a truckbed a week before the parade.

Medium CCA:
  • Type C (FH-97 like) > stealth, subsonic, light payload and lower range than typical fighters
  • Type D (FH-97 like) > stealth, subsonic, light payload and lower range than typical fighters
  • Type E (Dark Sword modernised?) > stealth, supersonic, light payload and lower range than typical fighters

Over the years, many other UAVs and programs that produced flying prototypes and either didn't reach service, not yet ready for service or are in service and have not been disclosed.

I didn't include all the CH-1 -> CH-5 UAVs, the WL-1, WL-2, WL-3, MALE UAVs, the Tengden TB-001 heavy bomber, the cargo drones, and all the drones that are smaller than MALE.
I think the biggest problem that needs to solved for CCA or fighter like drones is coming to the fight.

They likely don't have the long range that j-20 or J-16 has. But they are expected to fight with them.

So, there should be a way to launch these drones near the actual theater. Likely through some kind of bomber like platform.
