Yeah because ch-4 is a predator/Gray eagle sized UAV while CH-5 is more akin to Reapers, it would make sense to have a similar class of engines.

You are wrong. The new engine on CH-4 is this 118kw /153hp " laverock/skylark "engine.
Some specs:
- Fuel types: Diesel, RP-3/RP-5
- Maximum Continuous Power/RPM: 153hp @ 4000rpm
- Minimum Specific Fuel Consumption: 220g/kW-hour
- Weights: 105kg, 112kg (+deceleration box))
- Dimensions: 712x706×643mm
- Time Between Overhauls: 2000 hours
- Max operating altitude: 10000m
- No power loss at altitudes at or below 4000m
- Suitable for heavy long-endurance UAVs, light helicopters, fixed-wing general aviation aircraft, etc.

Wrong about what? I never said anything about what engine was installed on the CH-4, except that it's an indigenous heavy-fuel design.

OK now we have official information from Hangrui, the engine on CH-4 is actually the 118kw model, not 300kw or 600kw...(Note that CH is short for Caihong, which means Rainbow in Chinese. The engine's name Yunque means Lark, a kind of bird)

“云雀”助力“彩虹-4”无人机升级版更高更远更安全

近日,由中国航天科技集团有限公司十一院航天彩虹无人机股份有限公司自主研发的中空长航时重油无人机圆满完成科研试验。
本轮飞行设计了多种飞行构型进行验证,圆满完成了自主起降、短距滑跑起飞、航点飞行、满载运输、最高升限、最长航程航时等试验科目。

"Lark" helps "Rainbow-4" UAV upgrade to be higher, farther and safer

Recently, the medium-altitude long-endurance heavy-oil unmanned aerial vehicle independently developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. Eleventh Academy Aerospace Rainbow Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Co., Ltd. successfully completed the scientific research test.

This round of flight has designed various flight configurations for verification, and successfully completed the test subjects such as autonomous take-off and landing, short roll take-off, waypoint flight, full-load transportation, maximum ceiling, and longest range flight time.

And according to previous announcement, this engine can support 1.3t to 1.8t fixed wing UAV.

The AR-500BJ unmanned helicopter adopts the company's "Lark" heavy fuel oil engine, which is independently designed by Hangrui Power, with 100% independent property rights and 100% localization. From the practical application point of view, it has the following characteristics:

①Heavy oil products: Heavy oil products are used to meet the needs of the ship. It has the characteristics of normalization of logistics oil, convenient guarantee, long-term storage without deterioration, and high safety in use.

②High-altitude performance: 5000m power has no attenuation, supporting 700kg helicopters for high-load take-off and landing on the plains, and supporting 500kg drones for plateau take-off and landing applications.

③High power-to-weight ratio: The power is 118kW, matching the power-to-weight ratio of the helicopter without a gearbox version of 1.1, which can support 500-700kg helicopters and 1.3t-1.8t fixed wings.

④Low fuel consumption and long voyage time: the fully electronically controlled direct injection in the cylinder, the cruising fuel consumption is 228g/kWh, which is 23% lower than the existing industry products, and supports longer voyage time.

⑤Full authority digital control system: dual redundant FADEC system, real-time hot backup of hardware and software, real-time monitoring of engine health status; seamless connection with flight control, no need for steering gear control.

⑥Applicable to wide-area combat environment: stable power output can be achieved in various environments from -40°C to +70°C. Especially in the Middle East, the ground temperature is +50°C and the high-altitude temperature is -30°C, which can sense changes in the external environment in real time, and adaptively adjust and stabilize the power output.

are building an industrial park for the production of UAVs. The park will eventually occupy some 800 acres and be home to enterprises up and down the supply chain. The image below shows the signing ceremony where the first batch of companies/parts suppliers commit to setting up operations in the industrial park.

This is one area where UGVs might be better suited, much less attention attracted compared to flying a UAV for this purpose. In a high intensity conflict this may just cue in artillery strikes from watching eyes.

And since they are dropping MREs, I don't see why soldiers couldn't carry enough on either their persons or in their vehicles (PLA is 100% motorized by now) that would require the use of UAVs to deliver them. I agree, it's a little gimmicky. Neat photo op though.
