Seems like a waste of a cell.

Drones can be launched from the hangar but missiles can't.

Only if you think linearly... in future state where vessels are all stealth structured hangars may be a thing of the past or at least it would be fully integrated into the hull etc.. VLS or PVLS may have numerous cells therefore putting a few drones in there may not alter weapon effectiveness.
In the future state drones may also have different roles.. not one or two big ones like today but possible a swarm of drones for other purposes. The drones themselves may become weaponized or form part of the ships defensive umbrella.

it depends on the kind of drone and type of mission IMO.

A reuseable armed MALE drone or helicopter drone has its own mission profile.

A single use, smaller scan eagle type drone that can fold up and hitch a ride as a payload for a long range cruise missile delivery system could have its own mission profile as well for specific situations that demand it, like ones where more rapid on demand ISR is needed

Rumors abound that the Sharp Sword has successfully completed an autonomous in-flight refueling demonstration. Quite a few paces behind the X-47B program, but a respectable milestone nonetheless.

I would love to see any new recent images of it anyway ... and what about these rumours concerning a second, modified demonstrator?

Ooh, I do like this particular concept, though it is very small to exploit the true potential for its configuration.
Hopefully they will look into upscaling it to a Reaper/Wingloong II sized drone, into a TERN like concept to give small flight deck surface combatants like DDGs and FFGs a fixed wing MALE ISR capability.

Not to mention the fact that it looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

A couple of credible observers, Henri K. among them, have spoken of a second prototype. An alleged eyewitness also claimed to have seen a second prototype fly back in February 2017.
