Some major PLAAF projects have resulted in prototypes that crashed (such as J-10, Z-19, JH-7, Z-19, KJ-200, etc), and aftering seeing what seems to be paint chips (in retrospect they do seem more like places for bolts), the prototype's workmanship comes into question.

I mean, it's not exactly rare for prototypes to crash.
And there's also the conflation that prototype crashes are always or usually caused by poor physical workmanship of the product, which I don't think we can confidently say is true.

In any case the component in the picture in question is too early in the stages of fabrication to tell what kind of workmanship it has, let alone whether it is actually even painted. If anything the "chipped paint" you speak of looks more like deliberate patterns in the wing.

Chinese Pterodactyl I UAV
Again, shown to be running WINDOWS XP (@2:02) !!

This posed serious problem if they are really running Windows XP for their military systems.
