Yes, CJ-X is expected to replace CJ-6. TA-20 may not have the chance in the competition since it's an "outsider" from a local private company.

Interesting ... by the way an interesting hint from a friend:

"Regarding the UAE's L-15s at the Dubai Airshow, Chinese official media reports refer to them as "L-15A."

On the Chinese internet, some claim that these L-15As use the WS-17 engine, instead of the original Ukrainian Motor Sich AI-222 engine. The WS-17 engine is a Chinese-made version of the AI-222. It has been revealed that the UAE raised concerns with China regarding the Ukrainian engines used in the L-15s when purchasing them (due to concerns about the situation in Ukraine and the inability to guarantee after-sales service). Therefore, China used the WS-17 engine for these L-15s.

However, there is currently no credible evidence for this claim. I consulted my sources, but there is no definitive information regarding the WS-17 engine.

Do you have reliable information about this rumor?"

In fact, I heard this too, but so far I wasn't able to find any evidence ... but I have two friends currently in Dubai - one of them actually flew together with these L-15! - and tell you what I learn.

interesting.. i m saying this for quite some time.

waiting for more information but most likely China producing AL-222 engine at home with different name. they didn't get engines from Ukraine since 2022 neither from Russia so its obvious they do produce this machine and AL-222 is just a small turbofan engine. recently AECC showcase plenty of smaller Engines at different air shows.
