Chinese Trainer Aircraft (JL-8, JL-9, JL-10 (L-15), etc.)

Banter aside, it's quite likely there's not much to be change on the aerodynamic design of an easy-to-fly propeller trainer aircraft from that time to present time. I'm sure instrumentation and engine of the trainer are already modernised. On the other hand, a trainer with seat ejection capability may require an entirely new design from scratch. Then again, does any of the modern propeller trainer has seat ejection? Probably not.

Come on !?? If you look at other Airforces flying very much more modern types like the DA-20 from Diamond, or others there's surely a lot to change and especially the mentioned flight instrumentation. ... and something like the PC-21 is also still missing!

I definitively agree. Something like the PC-21 is missing from their trainer roster. The Russians have a similar issue with a really ancient propeller driven trainer aircraft fleet. So they came up with the Yak-152:

But to admit, to compare the PC-21 with the Yak-152 is like comparing the Lamborghini Aventador with a VW Beetle ... the old Beetle.

But but I am still lost as to why you need super duper trainer for "basic flight" school? Because as they progress in their training they will be exposed to more and more sophisticated flying machine
Just like driving a car does it make difference when you start learning to drive a ca.r Do you need Ferrari or stick shift Datsun? I think learning with stick shift is better because you easily transition to automatic transmission car. But not the other way around

Well, true. The PC-21 is a turbo-prop plane like the Super Tucano. You could even use it as a COIN aircraft. While the Yak-152 is just a V-12 diesel trainer.

No less than 6 new L-15 training aircraft are currently at Yaohu Airport for flight tests.

A new variant is needed for arrestor hook capability. Rear fuselage has to be redesigned/strengthened and according to Hui Tong, will have WS-13E. So, I don't think we will be seeing hooks anytime soon.

I would suggest to leave such a JL-9XYZ abd jump right to a carrier variant of the JL-10 based on the L-15B.
