A new version of L-15 has completed the entire flight test campaign on August 29 at Yaohu Airport, and it will be delivered "soon". It could be the L-15B lightweight ground attack version.
From Henri K blog. Do we still need ground attack version in this day and age?. I though attack helicopter like Z10 take over this role

Speed and numbers.

There are only so many Z10s and Z19s. They cannot be everywhere at once, and their speed means it will take them a while to get on station.

When troops are under fire, every second is precious and could be the difference between life and death for many soldiers.

That’s why western forces rely overwhelmingly on fastjets for reactionary CAS even though they also have a lot of attack helicopters.

Attack helos are generally used for offensive ops and escort duties, where they are where they are needed from the start, so their slower speed isn’t a problem, and indeed can be a major advantage.
