It's true, smart bidet in China these days are equipped with LIDAR to detect you're coming and automatically flip the lid into your preferred position for you. Can do that foam thing too where if it detects you're doing a poo it covers the surface of the water with a layer of foam to avoid splashback.

I already knew China is ahead in LIDAR and so all the self driving cars use it unlike Tesla and that's the main difference between self driving in China vs Tesla right? Tesla wants to do range detection purely based on graphics processing with multiple video streams. Where as LIDAR has gone cheap enough in China that it's evidently been used for toilet in addition to cars.

The Toto Neorest has the proximity open and premist of the toilet bowl, but it is also $5000 US, probably more now with inflation.

Easy to clean floor and toilet area with shower head. I don't see why you have to mop up after every shower.

I don't really understand why though. Perhaps they are gambling that China will crack down on XHS and kick the Americans out, maybe with a helpful serving of well poisoning with 1450? Then they can say see China is anti-free speech unlike us.

But the thing is if it doesn't happen, wouldn't it backfire and look really bad since China appears to be the one open for culture exchange while they are trying to shut it down?
