This was what I was saying before. Indonesia and Thailand needs to get rid of these NGOs and bring in their national security laws to clamp down on these violent protests. I can tell when a protest is supported by the NED or US govt, it's plastered across all Western news, but when it's organic and goes against western interests like Taiwan, we dont hear a peep.

Why don't these governments learn and correct themselves. Same with Serbia. I feel china needs to do something or else they are at risk of having more unfriendly govt's around their periphery

Meddling in the internal affairs of other countries is a dangerous business. It can very easily backfire when the people topple your preferred government and the opposition is now far more hostile because you meddled against them. US-Iran is an easy example, or India-Bangladesh if you want a more recent one.

The safer approach is to maintain friendly but not unconditional ties to all factions. Non-interference is a practical as well as political stance.

There's no silver bullet. Like HK, these places are deeply infiltrated by the US, including the government. Unlike HK, there's no CPC to step in and clean house.

Will the current goodwill between 2 govs counter this?
Afe you serious? You are blaming the US for cambodia-Thailand norder issue flaring up again? And also blaming the US for being behind indonesia police officers beinf stupid enough to have led to the death of a biker which led to the protests? Lol

Seriously, you sound like those loser Muslims in the middle East who blame Israel/jews for all their own incompetence/stupidity/failures. Lol

Like I said, CIA has one enemy at the moment. The MILF-tastic Tulsi.

However, it's not hard to see why the escalation of protests might evoke suspicions of foreign manipulation. Just like anti-China accounts on Twitter and anti-China groups operating within China, they attempt to attribute every grievance and misfortune citizens encounter to what they call China's dictatorial government, claiming that only by overthrowing this evil regime can the people be saved. This is foolish, but it does work on students who haven't seen much of the world.

The west simultaneously has a hand in every civil unrest and is also poised to fall any second. People just refuse to accept that sometimes governments are imperfect and people do get angry.

Especially in poorer countries where there's nothing to lose and corruption actually leads to life or death to those on the fringe, not everybody can be like HKers and protest as a hobby.

How interesting is it that members that are more "West-Friendly" and "Liberal" make such full-throated defenses of the USA in this situation, acting as if the U.S. has perhaps no hand at all in this. On the other hand, less "West-Friendly" members see the CIA's hand in almost every protest. I suspect that the truth is probably somewhere in between.
