If you can understand Chinese, this documentary shows China's largest shipyard. The scale is truly massive
Very good read on how the prosperity of China's shipping market has not enabled the emergence of strong and very competitive Chinese shipping companies when facing foreign competitors.
I just crunched some math and if this ship actually can produce anything near 200K tons of fish per year, it's going to be revolutionary. 50 of them will produce 10 million tons of fish. That's 20 billion pounds, which is enough to feed every Chinese person 15 pounds of fish per year. 500 ships would produce 150 pounds of fish per person per year, which is 0.4 pounds of fish per day. If you eat fish every other day, that's a 2.4 pound fish for dinner for a family of 3 every other day. That is already above the entire national consumption of seafood, with just 500 ships... It could replace the entire non-luxury fishing industry (except for rare, exotic species that haven't established aquaculture). The first of 50 mobile fish farm vessels to be built. Each of these ships have a displacement of over 100,000 tons.
