"On Monday, China's first large-sized liquefied natural gas carrier featuring Mark III technology, independently developed, designed and built by Jiangnan Shipyard Co., was delivered two months ahead of schedule to a foreign user in Shanghai, filling a gap in China's shipbuilding industry.
The new large-sized LNG carrier features the latest MARK III Flex membrane system to store liquefied natural gas. The thickness of the insulation and shielding layers that isolate the liquefied natural gas has been reduced from 530 mm to 400 mm, which not only allows for more cargo space and a lower evaporation rate, but also boasts better safety, energy efficiency and is more environmental friendly. Moreover, it breaks the previous monopoly of foreign shipbuilding companies in this type of LNG ship."
