World's largest Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) was delivered in Jiangyin city, JIangsu Province in eastern China on Monday, 06 December 2021.
Named 'Tai Xing' 泰興、the ship boasts a max capacity of 62,000 tonnes. It is around 200 meters long and over 32 meters wide, and with a total deck surface equalling 14 basketball courts, it is able of transporting oversized cargo and superheavy equipment. Its four deck cranes onboard vessel have combined lift capacity of 300 tonnes, which save significant time at port and increase the overall sailing efficiency.
The ship was built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (via its subsidiary Chengxi Shipyard located in Jiangyin city). Construction started in November 2020. It was launched in July 2021 before finishing sea trials in November.
Its operator, Chipolbrok, a China-Polish joint venture shipping company, says Tai Xing is the first of four ships of its class, and that it will start its maiden voyage on December 8th, carrying 14 sets of wind power equipment from Penglai, Shandong Province in China to Ecuador.
, established in 1951, was China’s first international joint venture. The company currently operates a fleet of 17 heavy lift vessels.
