SEM analysis of Huawei Ascend 910C chip

It uses "TSMC 7nm class" node process, don't know what that mean

Also the video says that it didn't use advanced packaging, indicate that China still lag in advanced packaging technology

The cartoon talking is quite distracting in such topic, but I guess is the new trend in the industry. Either way, I think the CN marking indicates made in Mainland China, the packaging, which is obviously 2.5D packaging (advanced packaging technology) Cowos-like but that would required a SEM cross section to determine. The cartoon guy says that is a SMIC process at TSMC level. So N7 and N7P both use SAQP DUVi and N7+ and N6 use EUV. That could put SMIC 7nm process between N7 and N7+ but would required a SEM cross section to determine.

Huawei shows off AI computing system to rival Nvidia's top product

Okay, I forget much of the details, as this was not widely reported, only saw this in a couple of computer videos on Youtube which I forgot the details, but do remember the points the two main points.

1. This server arrary from Huawei is much faster than the best server array from Nvidia. It is much faster like 2x or 3x times, forget, because they used 384 chips, that is why it is the 910C 384, but it consumes double the amount of power. That can still work for a Chinese company given how cheap electricity is for them.

2. This was only the 910C and it beats Nidivia best cloud matrix of servers. There is a 910D coming out too, but not sure when.

3. The reason we know about these claims is that Huawei published a paper about it, located on that free academic papers site, which I never go to. That is how we knew about it, as all the computer people went to read the paper then tell the rest of us via Youtube all about it, while the mainstream media ignored it altogether. Mainstream media reporters just do not have that kind of knowledge because they just do not know.

4. This graphics cards, all linked together inside the Huawei CloudMatrix 384 is that much faster because, remember that what a server array is all about, a collection of machines linked together with cables. Same sort of thing here, for those who do not know, just that the cards with the 7nm chips on them, have all 384 of them linked to together not by a regular cable but they used optical fiber cable or as Steven Hsu described it, they used light!

5. That is why Jensen Huang needs to have access to the China market, because he has to compete here, he has to compete with the best. The only way to know what the China market is like, is to be in China. 910C 384 has the best Nvidia system beat. And 910D is coming. Naturally, Mr. Huang being Chinese knows all about Sun Tzu, so his company has to be here, be there, be square.

How's the euv process coming along I heard Former ASML head scientist Lin Nan made a breakthrough in April I haven't heard anything since then how much years do yall thing it will take for China to have its own euv machines with the process it's making rn?

Huawei 910D based on 7nm chiplet is doing fine. Market share for Huawei AI chip has risen to 37%. 910D is sufficient for now.

Jansen huang of Nvidia is drooling to go back to China with H20. He is trying to hook up with Lei Jun of Xiaomi at beijing. Xiaomi plays the role of foreign tech collaborator or traitor much like Lenovo did before.

There are.alot of noises they are doing EUV trial run at shenzhen.
Lol i dont think a private chinese tech company collaborating with Western tech companies is being a traitor. This is not the maoist era anymore. Cooperation is always a good thing and something that helps guage how your competitor products are compared to domestic ones, especially when foreign product is still more advance and viable than domestic one. If that was not the cade Chinese companies wont be so eager to go for US AI chips like Nvidia, they are not doing it because they love Ndvidia or the US but for pragmatic reasons if it gives them an edge and already has a widely viable and proven ecosystem unlike Huawei, except the Chinese government also comes out with some sort of law restricting Ndvidia or US AI tech products in Chins then Ndvidia will dimply reconquer Chinas market agsin since vast majority of chinese companies will be relying/using Ndvidia chips and ecosystem given their advantage. Chinese chips industry will hsve to mature and match that of its competitors in the US/West and their allies Taiwan, S.Korea/Japan to be able to really match and even overtake this competitors which is not easy and needs alot of time and effort.

Try to find some more news about the 910C CloudMatrix 384, and it is the same story.

People in Canada have an expression, pissing into the wind.

Up next, another round of anti-Huawei sanctions from the US government. More. More!

The AI server that will succeed CloudMatrix 384 will be a server made with 386 910D chips.

CloudMatrix 384 is about 2x better than GB200. But the next gen AI server will be better than GB300. '

This is my prediction.

Too simplistic of a take
Pandora’s box has been opened
US can restrict these chips anytime. That threat alone will make it much harder for Nvidia to simply reconquer Chinese market share
some Chinese start up companies may leave china to guarantee access to these chips but inside China, it will be very hard recapture their prior market share.
