China won't indigenize 7nm-capable DUV immersion tools until the mid-2030s.

Is it reliable information?
It's not really information, it's an article about how China's lithography development may be faster or slower than that of ASML's. The graph is just an illustration of when China would have DUVi and EUV if it developed them at the same pace as ASML. You don't even need to read his article to get this, you just need to read the first half of his twitter post.

As for the article itself, I skimmed it and it reads like AI slop, so I wouldn't put any weight on his "analysis" either.

(Bloomberg) -- Dutch chip-equipment giant ASML Holding NV is contending with its biggest challenge yet under the Trump administration: In a series of recent meetings, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick outlined concerns to ASML’s senior leaders that one of its top-of-the-line machines may have made its way into China, in violation of US-led export restrictions.
They do realize that EUV is not something you can pack in the back of a semi-truck and smuggle right?

I'm going to crack a guess and say US somehow got their hands on a chip produced with China's EUV prototype, and couldn't imagine how it was possible so decided to blame ASML for losing a room sized machine.

this Bloomberg news is related to last year Reuters information. its nothing new. US still think China basically reverse engineered ASML EUV which was leaked to China. they don't even know China could steal EUV machine but they assumed.

and regarding confusion about local Lithography machines. there is clear cut information about domestic DUVi but you choose to ignore. just last week Tongji university President said, we have delivered one machine to SMIC in summer 2025. he is the president of China's one of the most reputed university and his team involved in the project.

and i don't think so we need to much discuss about EUV considering amount of Patents published in 2024-26 years and specifically EUV pellicles. China is already building EUV pellicles.

EUV pellicles are considered for mask defectivity in high volume manufacturing.
Per a comment on page 1410 of this thread, the Tongi University President's statement re: DUVi was withdrawn or deleted.

yes. it was removed from the website.. this has happened before. especially DUV related info quickly being removed or disabled.

the best way to check the progress of DUVi is to see suppliers revenue and serial production. many immersion scanner suppliers saw their revenue increase first time in 2025.

these two screen-shots i m posting here. you can upload this on google translate and read.

DUVi started mass production (yuliangsheng?), so DUVi consumables also started mass production like this hydrophobic and diamond coating company (hydrophobic coat only useful for immersion DUV)

don't know how many times i have to repeat this but DUVi project has wrapped up and successfully passed its verification as well now entering in production..

Tongcheng New Materials: Currently, it has achieved stable mass production of over 60 types of KrF photoresist products.

On June 18, Tongcheng New Materials responded to investor inquiries on an interactive platform, stating that the company is the largest domestic supplier of KrF photoresist in China. Relying on the more than 20 years of semiconductor photoresist R&D foundation, batch stability capabilities, and customer mass production and sales experience of its holding subsidiary Beijing Kehua (established in 2004), the company currently has more than 60 KrF photoresist products in stable mass production, and some of the mass-produced KrF photoresist products have been equipped with self-produced resin.

It is worth emphasizing that Beijing Kehua, a subsidiary of Tongcheng New Materials, can provide integrated solutions from raw materials to formulations to engineering scale-up and user application through a complete localization path of "photoresist resin design and synthesis - resin mass production - photoresist formulation development and optimization - photoresist mass production - customer verification". This will help the safe and stable development of the domestic semiconductor industry chain.

They're psychologically prepping their audience and the rhetoric for when China's first EUV fabbed chip debuts and gets a teardown. "Stolen ASML machine" is much more palatable than "China broke through the monopoly."

They do realize that EUV is not something you can pack in the back of a semi-truck and smuggle right?

If China is really is capable of smuggling a whole a$$ room-sized EUV with more than 100 thousand components from 800+ companies, and somehow be fully capable of assembling 100% of them into one 100% functional machine on their own - Then I think it's better for the DC blobs to just kneel in front of Xi Dada tomorrow.

Hence, I'm thinking that this news could only be the result of either of these two:
- The usual hysterical and ridiculous behaviors from the Capitol Hill blobs (which isn't something out of the realm of possibility of the current administration); or
- They received some kind of intelligence that China's domestic EUV development progress has reached some kind of stages which is deemed optimistic/fruitful for China (and vice versa for the US et al.), and they're setting up the ground by "finding dad for XXX" (i.e. "为XXX找爹" in Chinese netizens' words) in order to mitigate the effects from a potential Deepseek-style shock.
