Yes, ASML's 2050i can also work with 5 nm nodes.

Nikon tools are far cheaper from what I understand. ASML is incredibly expensive.
I did some googling and found this:
From what I can gather is after the first layer/exposure the second layer/exposure will be within a error of 2.1nm and 1.5nm

I dont' think so. They can't even make their own Hindu idols. Even the Hindu Ganesh idol figurines (elephant god in Hindu mythology) are Made in China .
They don't have a choice.
But US will be particularly interested in TSMC's Chinese clients from the mainland so it can know exactly who's buying what, and able to use that information for future sanctions.
There is nothing unexpected. DPP will sell their mothers in exchange for independance/Anglo acknowledgement. I don't know about average Taiwanese, but the current DPP has the potential to be the greatest traitors in the Chinese history. TSMC should work with China, not against it. Ditch ASML and developed Chinese EUV with China.
Some Taiwanese believe themselves to be the equivalent of Brahmins and mainland Chinese are Dalits. It is a religious fundamentalist belief.
