See, look, they banned Huawei again!
At least they are doing something.
It almost feels like they're beating the dead horse every once in a while to demonstrate determination.
Hi @gelgoog bro need your expertise, Laser lithography? is that a term for EUVL?
Surprising that this study has so many errors in it considering that a lot of it can be disproven from public searches outside of China, let alone from actual China sources. I'm guessing maybe some of this report's sources are intentionally misleading the authors on various things? Here is a quite interesting paper about China and semiconductors published by an American university.
It clearly explains (funnily enough) how China can achive its goals towards self sufficiency both in Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment - SME and chips themselves.
I liked specially that part which they deem there are about 1000 Chinese nationals working in key companies which could be brought back to China and improve its talent base.
I just assume mainstream media talking about complex thing will be full of hot takes. Sometimes blog written by insider or with specific education informs better.Surprising that this study has so many errors in it considering that a lot of it can be disproven from public searches outside of China, let alone from actual China sources. The paper is well written and on the surface has a lot of seemingly rational conclusions. The report is basically describing and recommending ways to best restrict, contain and destroy China's semiconductor equipment industry. The problem is the entire premise of the report is fundamentally flawed and uses circular logic to reach those conclusions.I just assume mainstream media talking about complex thing will be full of hot takes. This pretty much confirms that China has an Official Project to develop EUVL Lithography Machines and this will be overseen by Vice Premier Liu He himself. With "About a trillion dollars of government funding have been set aside under the technology initiative" and Liu He heading the effort, I would not bet against China.
As far as EUV is concerned the article clearly states :
"The 69-year-old vice-premier, who has led the country’s technology reform task force since 2018, is also overseeing projects that could lead to breakthroughs in traditional chipmaking, including the development of China’s own chip design software and extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, one of the people said, asking not to be identified as they weren’t authorised to speak to media."
