Who's next after Micron?
I mean, might as well be Nvidia and AMD, since they'd be the ones banned.

But I don't think the US is explicitly banning anything. They're saying they can't sell without obtaining a "special license," which is simply a bureaucratic way of increasing executive leverage - ie they're looking for more ammo in the sanctions war after the Micron counter ban. This is Biden saying - we can do worse.

China should be expecting this, of course, and hopefully it puts Chinese companies on notice about the risks of relying on foreign manufacturers in general. More resources need to be poured into Huawei, Biren, etc. because you just know the US's long-term goal is to leverage Russia-level sanctions against China.

More bans are coming. Now even the unlicensed A800s may be banned from exported to China. Seems like a full on tech blockade

Great news.

Now tencent, bytedance & inspur will have no excuse to use Nvidia products. I am kind of sick of these Chinese tech not using Huawei ai chips because they don't want to use their competitors products. This should leave them with no choice.

Changing the Chinese AI ecosystem from CUDA to a more open source one using alternatives like OpenCL or SysCl to break the vendor lock-in nightmare that Nvidia has over the AI world will not only benefit China but the entire world.

The first DLP

To provide higher efficiency in performance and energy, domain-specific design starts to draw a great attention. In 2014, Chen et al. proposed the first DLP in the world, DianNao (Chinese for "electric brain"),

to accelerate deep neural networks especially. DianNao provides the 452 Gop/s peak performance (of key operations in deep neural networks) only in a small footprint of 3.02 mm2 and 485 mW. Later, the successors (DaDianNao,
