I interpret this to mean that ASML is willing to find ways around the restrictions, just like Nvidia did, but I could totally be wrong.
Yes, agree completely.
That picture, two guys smiling ...
What ban?!
We can hear the butt hurt already ...

I've read about the news that co-founder left. That seems to be legit.
Golf Jiao, a co-founder and General Manager of the Graphics GPU product line at Chinese chip start-up Biren Technology, has resigned, according to an insider cited in a report by Chinese media outlet on March 25.
It is worth mentioning that, since Jiao has a technical background, he hoped to have more say in determining his company’s direction regarding product R&D while also hoping to enter into the field of graphics GPUs which have greater consumer demand compared to GPGPUs, which are dominated by NVIDIA currently. On September 6 last year, Biren Technology announced the official launch of a new graphics GPU product line with Jiao personally leading the team.
In contrast, Biren Technology’s founder and CEO Michael Zhang is a Harvard Law School PhD who has worked for the United Nations and Wall Street for many years. He became a senior lawyer and private equity fund manage. From 2018 to 2019, he served as President of SenseTime, a leading AI company. There have been reports that Zhang opposes Jiao’s desire to bring Biren Technology into the field of graphics GPUs while also limiting investment in resources towards its development.
Biren Technology’s official website has deleted the press release announcing the launch of its new graphics GPU product line. As of March 27, there has been no official announcement from Biren Technology regarding Jiao’s resignation.
This isn’t the light source. This is the drive laser that drives the light source.it seems like SIOM has solved the light source problem. Looks like this was solved very recently.
So, the big question is which major components still need to be worked on? Are we at the stage where they are just looking to integrate everything together?
well, I guess then we still need some time before the LPP light source is ready then. I wonder if that will be a second generation light source. Didn't we see news of 150w LPP light source from a few weeks ago? This isn’t the light source. This is the drive laser that drives the light source.
It’s hard to say. I don’t think we will get any patents for the whole light source itself since it’s an assembly of other components like the drive laser. But if the drive laser design is finalized and patented that is a pretty strong sign of progress. The drive laser is probably the most important component in the light source given that EUV light output is driven primarily by this laser component. I think even if we can’t say that the light source as a whole system is ready, a lot of the other patents we’ve seen for light source components do suggest a pretty high level of maturity in the development timeline.well, I guess then we still need some time before the LPP light source is ready then. I have seen patent and research progress in the maglev wafer stage systems, multilayers mirrors and methods to make them, hydrogen cleaning systems, EUV sensors, other high end sensors, anti-vibration systems, hydrogen cleaning systems, EUV masks and methods to make them, EUV projection systems, high vacuum technology, high speed camera systems, EUV photoresist, tin molten droplet generators, objective systems and so on.it seems like SIOM has solved the light source problem. I don't know, given that they already tested a EUV lithography machine in 2017 I wouldn't be surprise if they test an more advanced one in the near future, this time given the fact that ASML can't sell EUV the objective will be to launch a commercialization effort on EUV.Are we at the stage where they are just looking to integrate everything together?
Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with ASML CEO Peter Wennink on On March 28...
Wang Wentao expressed the hope that ASML will strengthen its confidence in trade and investment cooperation with China, make positive contributions to China-Netherlands economic and trade cooperation, and jointly maintain the stability of the global semiconductor industry chain and supply chain. The two sides also exchanged views on ASML's development in China and other issues..
They'd be idiots to strike a deal now. Talk with them enough to keep both parties interested and wait at least half a year for a much better deal.
