嘉楠科技 (Canaan Creative) is coming out with 3rd generation RISC-V AIoT chip K230.

It delivered the world's first 7 nm ASIC chip back in the days and came out with first RISC-V AI chip back in 2018 and sold over 1 million of them.
first generation K210 is a double core RISC-V SoC. Then they came out with 2nd gen K510 AI chip with 2T of calculation.
They've sold over 2 million K210 and K510 chips to over 20 countries.

Now we have 3rd generation K230 which has significant improvement over K210 for consumer AIoT. They have also have plan for edge computing and robotics production line.

K230 uses 2 T-hand Xuantie C908 CPUs and a DPU that provides clear 3D imaging.

IC Insights has been the major source of semiconductor industry statistics, too bad it's closing now

IC Insights will be permanently closing on December 30, 2022 after 25 years in business.

I had enjoyed my interactions with Bill over the years. Bill had always been quite responsive to my questions and requests. He is a nice guy.

Jiweiwang News Recently, when accepting the survey of the organization, Gulun Electronics stated that the company has been focusing on the independent design and development of EDA tools since its establishment. At present, the company's core key products have mastered the international market competitiveness, independent and controllable EDA The core technology can support advanced process nodes such as 7nm/5nm/3nm and various semiconductor process routes such as FinFET and FD-SOI, and has built a high technical barrier.

It pointed out that in the past 2-3 years, domestic EDA companies have received great attention from the state, local governments and industries, especially the attention and investment of the capital market. A virtuous circle of capital market and technological innovation has been created. The demand for domestic substitution and the support demand of domestic EDA for the domestic industry, the further optimization of the development environment of the domestic EDA industry has contributed to the current situation where a hundred flowers are blooming. Construction, industry integration, and cultivation of large-scale EDA platform enterprises that are competitive in the international market and can create better solutions provide development opportunities.

EDA is the support of integrated circuit ecology and the carrier of integrated circuit design and manufacturing process. To develop China's integrated circuit industry, it needs the support and promotion of domestic EDA. As the first domestic EDA stock, Gulun Electronics has international market competitiveness and already has leading core technologies in some subdivided fields. It has all the key elements for the development of a high-tech hard-core enterprise and has a unique understanding of the development of domestic EDA. And advanced strategic planning, will lead the development of the industry by creating an EDA industry chain ecosystem based on the DTCO concept.

In addition, the semiconductor device characteristic test instrument business of Guilun Electronics includes semiconductor parameter tester system FS-Pro series, low-frequency noise test system 9812 series and various parallel test solutions.

Among them, the company's semiconductor parameter testing instrument FS-Pro has been verified and mass-produced by all walks of life, including universities, scientific research institutions, chip design companies, wafer foundries and IDM leading enterprises, and has been used in the field of mid-to-high-end products A breakthrough has been made; the low-frequency noise test system 9812 series is known as the "gold standard" for low-frequency noise testing in the global semiconductor industry. It has been adopted by many semiconductor foundries and is widely used in 28nm, 14nm, 10nm, 7nm and 5nm. Advanced process research and development and high-end integrated circuit design of each process node; parallel low-frequency noise test instrument M9800 is the industry's only low-frequency noise system for mass production parallel testing, and can provide high-throughput parallel noise testing solutions for leading foundries in the industry.

Regarding the company's future development strategy, Gulun Electronics stated that in 2022, the company will continue to promote the implementation of the process and design collaborative optimization (DTCO) strategy, and deploy technology and products around the DTCO strategy, aiming at the pain points and development needs of China's integrated circuits

I foresee Netherlands adding more sanctions than it currently has but less than what the US imposed on China

So instead of copying US' measures "1-to-1" it will be "0.5-to-1" and most likely with a grace period before those new sanctions are enforced

Same with Japan.
Bro IF the pressure is to much they will replace the Cymer light source with Gigaphoton, win win for China, Japan, the Netherlands and especially the US...lol

If Apple forces TSMC to supply from USA plants, that is something like 25% of their business. I would imagine that nVidia, Qualcomm, and AMD could pick up some of that excess capacity, but none of those companies even come close to Apple’s demand. With the downturn in the PC market, are we already seeing signs of oversupply before things even get started? If so, then the US really did harvest Taiwan…

From what I read with the economic downturn, TSMC need a lot more customer to fully utilize the 7nm, 6nm and in 2023 5nm as major American Company downsize and cut chip orders.

Yes, I think ultimately is too weak politically to stand up to the US. It's cringe, but true. In fact, I think the NL will ultimately capitulate to ALL demands from Washington. It will just take longer. The key for China is to drag out this period for as long as possible to smoothen the transition to a fully domestic supply chain.
