These photos show a prototype of CR450 bullet train undergoing tests in Beijing, capital of China, Feb. 25, 2025. Prototypes of the CR450 bullet train, with a test speed of up to 450 kilometers per hour and an operational speed of 400 kilometers per hour, were debuted in Beijing recently, highlighting China's cutting-edge advancements in rail technology and contributions to the global rail industry.

The CR450 is significantly faster than the CR400 Fuxing high-speed trains currently in service, which operate at speeds of 350 kilometers per hour.

The China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) currently is arranging a series of line tests for the prototypes and optimize technical indicators to ensure the CR450 enters commercial service as soon as possible. (Xinhua/Xing Guangli)

If this is what the cuck economists consider “trains that go no where” or “huge waste of money”, let the money be “wasted” so that some vestige of human decency still remains on this planet.
Definitely! Villagers from isolated villages alongside old tracks have rights to prosperity, too. I remember taking a green train from Kunming to Chengdu along the olde Chengkun railway. The train stopped at almost every station to pick up farmers trying to sell their fruits, vegetables, and chicken to nearby towns. That once-per-day green train brought economic opportunities to folks who would otherwise surely be left behind by China’s socialist market economy. And the those green trains also serve as school buses for elementary school students in the Xichang/Liangshan region.

btw the story behind the Chengkun Railway was both a massive Third Front success and a tragedy. Some 2,000+ PLA railway corp soldiers perished mostly from digging tunnels and falling off cliffs due to shortage of proper equipment.

Members of a female maintenance team pose for a group photo at a depot of China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd. in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, March 6, 2025.

In an impressive display of skill and dedication, a female maintenance team is busy examining and maintaining trains at a depot of China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd.

Launched in 2023, the female team consists of seven locomotive mechanics with an average age of 24, all possessing bachelor's degree. As spring farming has kicked off in Heilongjiang, China's top grain producer, each mechanic needs to complete maintenance work for 3 locomotives daily to ensure the safe transportation of farming supplies during the spring plowing season.

"Seeing the trains after our maintenance run safe and sound, I take a pride in my work," said Wang Jiayi, head of the team. (Xinhua/Wang Song)
