But all those chicanery can only delay but not stop the Chinese progress eventually they will figure it out by themselves by hook and crook.
Like the intel chips that is now is under embargo to be used in Chinese supercomputer. It only spur the development of domestic microprocessor. It happened 50 years ago when Dr Zhen Xuesen was under house arrest for 5 years and basically persona non grata in the space community with the hope of making him outdated. Now the old man is smiling in heaven. His disciple is now haunted the us with DF21,DF41 etc.

Each country is free to make their own domestic rules. There are always rules to restrict commercial activities such an anti monopoly, IP protection, insider trading etc. The notion of freedom is simply rhetorical to score points. In this specific example, a restriction is placed on a commercial activity because of military application. Governments do and often place caveats in the name of national interest. Don't think it is a case of being hypocritical.

Listen Phillip is not even a US company It is dutch owned.

What the US does it is using raw power to impose it will on its allies No different than the behavior of you know who

Anyway I doubt they will succeed in retarding the development of GNi semiconductor in China as the subsequent post reveal.

Just like Intel it will only result in the lost of hundred of million sale. It also reveal the same deep insecurity that the western press like to mock china

Don't know if you read my post or not but Philips was considering to sell the US unit of the subsidiary in which case it is a US listed corporate entity so the US government has every right to block the sales. The US is not in any way strong arming another nation.

True, Philips HQ is not a US company, but the one was blocked by the US govt is definitely a US company ... even the main shareholder may not be Americans.

I agree with you, it won't stop China to master GaN chips implementation, it in fact will even encourage Chinese Govt to pour unlimited cash and resources for it, like it has been proved again and again

Obviously it won't stop China because it is a critical piece of technology that China needs for military application. Acquiring an advanced technology is not simply about pouring resources but it requires time and effort to establish a viable base. The acquisition attempt was to buy time as a means to front jump the needed effort. Clearly if plan A fails to materialise there is plan B.
