Chinese purchase of Su-35

I expect the Russian side is more eager to release the news of the final delivery than the Chinese according to the past records of years.

So if the Christmas delivery does happen, shouldn't we have heard from the Russians? Unless the source was talking about Orthodox Christmas.

Why such obsession with a particular date. News like this is like Donald Trump's words, can't be taken literally.

Thanks for that post... and to admit, even if more than excited similar to my kids under the Christmas tree, I won't hold my breath for that date ... even if I'm convinced that deal is real.

Following my source it simply seems to be a fact - even if we don't like it or understand it - that the Chinese side doesn't want to make public that deal nor that the handing over ceremony and following such contracts it has all rights to do so, so Russia has to support this decision.

The situation might be hampered even more by the latest incident or scandal in which some spotters published a picture of latest RuAF MiG-35 by chance ... with the result that reportedly the FSB (federal security service) was "not that happy" and started investigations against them. As such, the typical suspects, which are providing us with these images are plain afraid to unveil the images ...

As such I think we simply have to be patient,
Deino

Thanks for the confirmation Deino. I recall what I said back in Oct.:
I think it's just a matter of time before we see some delivered, may not be this year but certainly in 2017.
This deal makes sense to me and I've been a supporter all along. Opinion aside, October was the time when I firmly believe that this deal is real. People just don't make up stories in certain kind of detail. I fully understand that many want to see pictures as evidence; and they will come in due time.

It might be unusual for China's reluctance to confirm. But 24 or even 48 su-35 is just a small chunk of China's air force structure. Understandably they would want J-20 or J-31 enjoy the limelight, just like Russia will make an effort to highlight this sale for future deals.

Keeping it low profile also makes sense with the often heated reactions we see towards this deal. One clue we can draw from this episode is that China is very pragmatic, more than many people thought. Remember it's the spirit of engineers taking China this far, not politicians or lawyers.
