looks like UOS home edition 22.0 is released now. It will be officially unveiled on Jan 15th and comes with a 399 RMB SSD for some reason

People are normally only willing to pay for an OS if the cost is mixed into the sale of hardware, otherwise they will pirate. Not sure why a home user would pay for UOS over free deepin, linux, or free "windows" (you just get a nag screen if you dont register)

I don't think there will be big adoption of a consumer Chinese OS unless a notable brand like Huawei or Alibaba comes out with a OS which gets sold with hardware, integrates with mobile devices, and has a real app or game store (ie like steam). Having 100 million Chinese using a flavor of linux may also finally get microsoft/adobe to create linux versions of their software (unless there is some gnu linux license issue that prohibits these companies from doing so, like losing intellectural property)

an optimistic piece here on the usage of KylinOS for cloud platform. They have been working with Shanghai's ZStack to deliver their OS to Cloud platform that also uses Chinese CPUs. It uses the V10 of OpenKylin OS. There are now many software vendors that support adding applications to it.

According to this, it supports x86 platforms (Hygon, Zhaoxin), ARM (kunpeng, Phytium), LoongArch (Loongson) and SW64 (Sunway). This create an OS that can control cloud computing resources using any of the supported architectures.

In simulation with S2500, it shows 5 to 60% calculation improvement vs CentOS. Received SPEC cloud score of 40.5.

openKylin OS v10 has now been verified with 11 Inspur servers of M6 series. It makes a lot of sense to push Kylin and UOS to government agencies, SOEs and big cloud providers since they are the easiest to switch over to Chinese CPUs and you only need to support the corporate software.

Looks like Zhaoxin and UOS have now partnered up to better support each other. UOS has over 1 million installations and 5400 ecosystem partners.

As a whole, China's software industry continued to grow despite slower GDP growth overall. In Jan to Nov, the revenue is up 10.4% YoY

Is there a reason why there's no signs of merging UOS and KylinOS? Maybe one OS is better suited for particular uses?

Seems like a pain if developers have to make 2 versions of programs for the chinese market alone
