Chinese military shovel

One thing that I don't understand is that the spade is sharp... very sharp if it was to be able to chop potato that thin... thus using it as a wire tightening device, whereby you would need to twist the wire using the shovel... and I saw the user usually grabbed hold on the spade head to do that stunt. Isn't it kind of risky... a bit of a slip and you can be sure it will slice off one or two fingers.

Right. The sharp edges make doing all the other stuffs dangerous too, including carrying the spade around. Probably have to forego one or more of the features for safety and practical reasons.

They may have some kind of thin sheath to hide the blade, just like the ones used by ice skaters to protect the blades of their ice skates. It would be insane to let a blade that sharp be exposed like that. We dont see it possibly because it's too small/thin and the shovel in the video clip moved too fast for us to catch it. As you can it in the photo shown on the website below, these guards would be difficult to spot if the color is white and same as the blade itself.

About the sharp edge, don't soldier on both side of the world war have it wrapped when they are carrying it at the backpack so that it doesn't cut the person.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a cloth sheath that could slide over the spade. Perhaps it could double as a scrubber when so the soldier could slice potatoes after a day of hole digging?:rofl:

Yeah. If so, I would not want to eat their potatoes... because no matter how you wash, there are bound to have some dust and mud or soil on it... so potatoes would come with extra ingredient - mud.:rofl:

Even if the Shovel had made in Switzerland stamped on it, I would find it hard to believe that it was the same shovel, used to make all the promo.

Actually it doesn't matter where the shovel was make from. Nowaday, try finding something that is not make in China. As long as it has passable quality, for a cheap price, it is okay.

In fact, I personally is pretty grateful to the Chinese for pushing down the price of otherwise unaffortable product.

Cheaper labor means that even poor people could afford pocket electronics and other high tech goods. Just take at all the Chinese cellphone services in Ethiopia!

There are full of nutrients in the dirt, including some very yummy worms packed with proteins...

Plus, out on the battlefield, it would be hard to find anything that has no dirt in it...

About the quality of the products, nowadays many things are made to last only a while. This is a change in philosophy by the manufacturers everywhere in the world. In the good-old-days, TVs last decades. Now, they last about 5-7 years (yes, even those ones made in Japan). This is actually noted by the manufacturers themselves. Cars are another example. So things will break no matter what. The question is if you want to buy something will break in 2 years and cost cheap vs. the same type of thing that will break in 2 and half years and cost twice as much.
