not really sure. We don't get regular reports on these things.

They do a lot of deal under the table that don't get reported. We find out only when pictures come out. For example, they are building a cutter right now in WuChang shipyard for Namibia. We did not see anything about this one. We didn't even know about the FACs they are building for Pakistan and Bangladesh until much later.

This article nicely summarizes many reports about the future development of Russia and China. Add to this the joint PAF FA development of Russia and India and it becomes obvious that the resurgent Russia will possibly have stronger ties to their long-time ally India, including joint developments with the second most important rising nation after China. A world where China and Russia-India compete for weapon contracts against USA and Europe would be multipolar and have few nations cut off from acquiring the systems they want.
While the Chinese economy will profit from the increased weapon export, it's likely such stories will have negative repercussions for cooperation of foreign companies and nations with China, extending the defacto CoCom currently in place.
I understand the Chinese position that wants to increase the benefits to their people by reducing the prices of goods that exist due to know-how monopolies that demand handy payments. On the other hand, the owners of intellectual property want to be compensated for their risks and perils. On the long run, it would be a good idea to reform the intellectual property laws in order to fight misuse while keeping the idea alive of advancing knowledge without the fear of competition outbidding you with your own achievements of development.

there is only thing China needs to truely master, that is high performance jet engines, if China can make them in large numbers in all sizes and shapes then China will take the lead in my areas

Chinas design, development and manufacturing is great for aircraft all it needs is the engines
