This is where we're supposed to post things about the export VT-4 tank right? I couldn't find a dedicated thread for that and this seems to be the closest thing.

Just saw this 6'30''-long video clip with English subtitles showing how the Royal Thai Army operates their new VT-4 MBTs. It is released by 肖宁 with the Weapon magazine:

very cool video, I like it :)

Wondering why VT-4 uses less powerful engine compare to 99A (1,500 vs 1,300 HP)

This is kinda meh. Even has the same carousel type autoloader as in the T-72. I am sure the powerpack is improvement as should be the fire control system but I still think the Chinese tanks are a severely underinvested portion of Chinese military hardware.

Point noted, but did you not know the VT-4 still has that type of autoloader?

The only contemporary Chinese tank with a different autoloader is the Type-15, and even that is not confirmed.

It's a "light MBT", something in between, but closer to an MBT than to a typical light tank (that would be penetrated by 25mm autocannon fire in the face in a lot of cases) IMO.

Thanks. I didn't know much about VT-5 and then I did some research and found out that it has been widely deployed in PLA mostly is southern China where the terrain is thick forest and mountainous, basically to replace Type 62. VT-5 is an export variant for Type 5. Type 15 is vastly better than Type 62

well, it is vastly better than what they replaced (Type 62). Actually Type 15 is a very good tank for the weight and high mobility for the area they intend to operate (mountain, thick forest and wet area)

I believe it is the best light tank in the world

You can't use heavyweight Type 99A1/2 effectively for mountainous, heavy forest and wet areas
