More high-resolution images of high-power microwave weapons against drone swarms.

The CH-7 displayed is not a model but a flyable prototype, confirmed by 席亚洲 (part of the Shilao Guancha crew). There is no IWB and it's clear that the purpose is for ISR.

He also mentioned it in a livestream. This is also a good article on the stuff displayed at the airshow and I'd recommend a read.

Additionally, the paint on the CH-7 prototype is done by 约克 (

) and his company. He is someone in China's MIC and does a podcast with 西葛西造舰, but he's not nearly as knowledgeable as Shilao and co and has made many questionable comments on things he's not familiar with.

on the microwave weapon system. One thing I didn't think about until I listened to Shilao's podcast today was the gigantic power requirement for this system. This really opens up some question in my head about the platform itself. It is tremendously more efficient to be using REEV architecture and a really large electric generator + high voltage system to supply the power needed for shooting all the microwave or laser needed to damage small drones.

It's much better to just share that power with the electric motors of the vehicle rather than having a separate power generator just for the DEW.

I'd think it makes far more sense for them to do that here.

Not directed at you or anyone - Though, I do think that CH-7 and similar U(C)AVs should be discussed in the UCAV/CCA/Loyal Wingman thread instead of this thread, given the dimension, functionalities and (especially) complexity of systems involved in rhe U(C)AVs of that category.
