Italian authorities seize Chinese drones bound for Libya
Containers of Wing Loong UAVs were impounded in southern Italy after a tip off from the US

Why would we route that shipment through Italy instead of having them directly delivered? Was this a non-government smuggler that had to hide it from Chinese authorities? How such an entity get military drones??

Who says they WL were from China? Several other states operate WL1 and 2, including Saudi, UAE.

Well, it does say they were coming from China.
"These containers had been unloaded from the MSC Arina, a cargo vessel sailing from China."

Also, smugglers usually don't take millions of dollars in payments by oil, nor would an oil-rich Arab nation.
"Fathi Ben Ahmed Mhaouek, 61, and Mahmud Mohamed Elsuwaye Sayeh, 37, were accused of conspiring to acquire Chinese drones for Haftar in exchange for Libyan oil shipments."

So I'm led to think that they either came from the Chinese government or a Chinese smuggler. If the former, then why weren't they sent directly to Libya instead of being routed through a NATO country? If the latter, how does a smuggler in China acquire Wing Loong?

Does it have a pusher prop & engine that just is not visible on the image? Since every VTOL motor seems to be electric, I'd assume that would then also be the engine using the aviation fuel. Also, wonder what its purpose is. Can't see any ISR equipment on the belly, so either modular or purely cargo.
