Chinese laser weapon development

I recall back then it was either a microwave weapon (so I suppose that would fit "electromagnetic weapon") or acoustic weapon. Jin Canrong (not a super reliable source) said it was microwave but it didn't literately melt Indian soldiers or anything dramatic like that, just caused some discomfort to dislodge them from their position without using live fire.

Sorry, I thought the sarcasm was obvious.

Just providing context because that's still interesting data point. When Jin Canrong said a microwave was used to disperse the Indians a lot of people thought he was making things up at the time. Given the size of the actual microwave anti-drone weapon displayed at the parade next to the lasers it probably could be used as non-lethal crowd control.

Jin Canrong ridiculed the Indian celebration (which even for India was super brief and only lasted a day with a supposed week long incursion) when Indian forces ventured into Chinese land which both India and China recognised as Chinese land btw. This was back in Sep or Oct 2020 iirc. Indians wanted to capture Chinese land to negotiate for a PLA withdrawal from Finger 5 on Pangong Lake north.

After the Indians went quiet on the celebrations of holding Chinese land, Jin Canrong commented that he has insider info and arrogantly said the Indians were forced out using non-lethal electromagnetic weapon. The US is exaggerating by saying Indian soldiers were "melted". That would have resulted in an even greater diplomatic drama between the two nations back in 2020. Reality is the PLA employed some non-lethal acoustic or microwave weapon to get the Indians out of Chinese land.

Rest is history. India went to negotiate from a position of weakness and stopped patrolling past the disputed land into Aksai Chin. India was trying to parade around some victory but clearer heads (certainly not the moronic bhakts) all knew India lost patrol privileges they previously held, esp after trying to take that piece of disputed land during the start of the covid crisis.
