chinese laser weapon development

Wonder how much use the ZKZM-500 will actually see in the crowd control mission set?

Scientists and police officers, at least according to the SCMP, think that it's sadistic and counterproductive in that role.

It seems this is the weapon that Stephen Chen referred to.

It is a report from "

", the recent one (9th) just happened in May. The report was based on personal interview of the company who made it. So it should 100% accurate.

Here is a highlight. The underlined texts are where Stephen made mistakes.
upload_2018-7-2_22-49-13.png
  • The max range is 150 meters (instead of 1000 meter range) in the configuration for a personal weapon. See the screen dump.
  • The laser spot (at 150 meters) is 6 mm.
  • The max range can reach 5000 meters if it is vehicle or ship mounted. They did not show that configuration.
  • The representative claims close to 10,000 shots per charge (instead of 1000 shots) in the personal configuration..
  • The weapon can shot a 2 shot bursts.
  • There is video demonstration of the weapon burning through clothes and carboard in seconds.
I think, for the purpose of army infantry, the battery (energy) is not an issue (apparently 10,000 shots is overkill), but the size of the light source and lens (to extend range) are the challenge to make it function as a infantry weapon (like a snipper at 1000 meters). 150 meters is still too short, only beyond 400 is useful.

Who said it is to be used in "crowd control"? Must be SCMP, the scare scaremonger, the "I want to sell fear to get paid".

This is why I hate any MSM, they basically do this loop:
"A" created something,
According to me, "A" is going to use it to do evil.
Therefor, "A" is evil and must be stopped.

I created the same thing,
According to me, I never do evil.
Therefor, I am angel.

On a side note, SCMP is in a funny spot where the pro-China crowd shit on it for its "quality western reporting" and anti-China crowd shit on it for it being owned by Alibaba and therefore biased.

It is impossible to be liked by everyone. It is especially difficult when one is "switching sides, surrendering". It will be suspected, looked down upon and hated by both sides. SCMP is the one switching side (Alibaba buying it from former anti-China owner).

Can someone find the video please?

taxiya very clearly linked the video in a previous post. You can see them burning paper and clothing from a distance with it.

Funny how some journalists are questioning the viability of this device because there is no video and that a portable laser capable of igniting clothing or skin is "anti-science". It actually doesn't take that much power to set combustible material on fire with a laser. Remember this device from a couple years ago?

What do you mean?

The SCMP article's head photo shows the same weapon in the video that I posted. And the video is from Police exhibit if you watch the video through. You can also see my screen dump in #492 which shows the same weapon. Please let me know if I made a mistake of the video (which talks about different weapons in the report???)

The SCMP article which is the source of all other media report also said the following in the first paragraph. See the highlight in the screen dump

Does that mean the picture posted by SCMP has nothing to do with ZKZM-500? Do you mind giving me a source on this weapon (in the picture) being made by Hengyun?
