What astonishes the most is that they actually used an operationally sound turret mount, and not some makeshift scaffolding like the US EMG.

China displays two export laser weapons at the 2018 Malaysia Defense Show. No photos of info. placards are available. Sina's captioning doesn't call these direct energy weapons, instead describing them as laser 'suppression and interference' devices.

The US is complaining to china about laser incidents in djibuti. Apparently, chinese nationals (there is a chinese military base nearby) have been pointing lasers to US aircraft. In some instances, military-grade lasers from the chinese base have also been used. In one case, pilots have suffered minor eye injuries.

BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of National Defense Friday refuted the allegations that its base in Djibouti had pointed lasers at U.S. military aircraft there, saying it was in "complete contradiction to the facts."

"We have refuted the false accusations through official channels. The Chinese side has consistently abided by international law and the laws of the local country strictly, and is committed to safeguarding regional security and stability," said the ministry in a statement.
