That actually looks like a very practical design for a cargo self-driving vehicle, and quite capable of keeping up with infantry in variety of terrains.
Is there an indication of whether such vehicles are in testing or have started to be used in actual frontline units?
A document about China's military vehicles. The "Python" 2-section all terrain tracked vehicle is very interesting. Both the front and the rear units are powered. If either unit gets stuck in the mud or otherwise disabled, the other unit can be used to tow it out and bring it to safety. It can overcome a 1.5 meter high obstacle and negotiate a 4 meter wide ditch. It is also amphibious.
