Why is the gunner sight placed below the main cannon? This would limit the view especially when the gun is depressed. It also means less visibility to see over the hull and over obstacles.
Couldn't it have been put on the side, or on top, if that doesn't mean the gun must be shifted down to compensate for the gunner sight, therefore limiting depression angles.
If it is mounted below the cannon (which pictures suggest it may be, but cannot yet be confirmed), it could be mounted ventrally because:
1. There may be a CITV that would be mounted on top of the turret which would provide sufficient situational awareness anyway for general purposes
2. The under barrel mounting position is still sufficiently elevated above the hull and the ground such that depression of the main gun will still provide sufficient visualization of the relevant areas/distances for the optics
3. Placement of it below the gun may provide some benefits, for example it may allow for easier access of top side equipment on the turret (such allowing the coaxial gun to be mounted in a position that is easier to access), and being mounted in a lower position on the turret like below the gun may make the gunner's optics a less obvious target and more difficult to damage by shrapnel, or be deliberately targeted.
