So the question is whether he(?) is a BYD's 'homegrown' academician, or a poached one.
But considering his work unit is BYD and not a state firm/institution, I'm leaning more towards homegrown. Hence my question on what had he done in BYD.
It's worth mentioning that he is the inventor of the Blade Battery and the developer of BYD's new generation of pure electric technology platform, and has twice won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. According to multiple previous reports, in 2008, he led the development of the world's first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the F3DM, achieving a technological breakthrough in "dual-drive" (gasoline and electric). To solve the safety challenges of power batteries, he spent three years developing the Blade Battery technology, increasing energy density by 50%, successfully balancing high safety and long range, and enabling the Blade Battery to pass the nail penetration test, known in the battery testing community as the "Mount Everest."
