Cute Orca said that J-35 will have 2D TVC nozzles on the WS-19.

萌虎鲸 :"35会,海军飞机少,一切都力求顶配"

- Strlxx :" Will the J-20s/J-35s, in service period, be changed to thrust vector engine? I remember Cute Orca once mentioned the "八一" aerobatic team that used the 2D TVC nozzles J-35."

- Cute Orca :" J-35 will. The navy has few aircraft and strives for top-of-the-line configuration in everything."
Does it mean only carrier variant will have TVC while land based variant won't have it?

According to Yankeesama, the thrust of WS-19 is 1.x tons smaller than the Su-27's engine (didn't mention any specific model).
It's in "Cha Hua Hui", 28:20, April 24th.
Conservative estimates should be at least 120kN if using AL-31F on Su-27SK or about 125kN for the ones later J-11 variants.

Much higher than the 110kN we had assumed for years. Amazing that a medium fighter engine is now almost as powerful as a heavy one.

I think "110kN" is also close to the thrust of AL-31. So don't be too optimistic about the 120kN thrust.

He didn't say specifically 2D... I think we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Currently all aircrafts are flying with obvious circular nozzles and unless they wanna do a large redesign down the road like J-20A(Which imo whats the point by then J-XDS would be ready why even make more J-35s). J-35 probably will come with LOAN TVC. nozzles.

No, we were working off the report of 1.x off the Su-27 which IMO means 1.0 to 1.9 off the AL-31xx.

Lowest rated AL-31F of the original Su-27SK was was about ~122kN so that would have been around 120 if we were conservative and rounded the minus 1.x in the report to 2. Later versions of J-11 had AL-31 rated up to 127kN so that would give us 125kN.

If the report had meant AL-31 in general, then there are AL-31FN and AL31FM for the J-10 and J-20 that were well over 130kN and 140kN. I doubt that we would be all the way to that range for a medium engine.

1.0 - 1.9 KN? or kg/f? Vastly different.

Old model of AL-31 produces 122.6kN thrust. I used that as a reference object.
