I don't think it's outdated, the info is extracted from this report

which was published in 2021/06/29. So it is pretty up to date.

You do realize that not all factories in China(or any country for that matter)are equal right? There is advanced smart factory, there is also backward small factory, you have to look at the average level of factories in that country. It is actually mentioned in the report

Then you can not use a backward example to represent the whole industry, can you? It is like taking the guy scored 40/100 to say the whole class.

Besides, the sources that you brought in is stock management report. The concerning company isn't related to top tier SOEs. You can check its share holding entities here.

In the source it says

Basically this company is short of cash to invest in advanced equipment. So it is a relatively weak company struggling to get cash saying itself is backward in equipment. Does that represent Chinese industry as a whole?

In your initial post which is about the same company, one of the identified "China" short come is 等温锻叶盘片 for engine. But according to this article

, Shanghai Baogang Special Steel has already made it.

So my conclusion is that you can not just trust a marketing paper from a lesser player as representative.

Just to close the loop on this a bit, from what I can tell through research pubs 5th generation single crystal blades already seem to be in development in China, and Japan’s XF9 uses 5th generation blades but that engine is still just a prototype, so I think it’d be quite a leap to say Japan has already put 5th generation single crystal blades in production. So it seems to me that at least from a materials standpoint this gap isn’t nearly as big as a lot of people seem to think.

But regardless, production doesn’t meaningfully start for these materials and components until you have products that use them. In China’s case, because there are so many new engines that are supposed to close the capability gap which still haven’t completed development, it’s probably not very meaningful to gauge where China’s technological base is based on what has entered production.
