Pretty substantial claims coming from pb19980515:
WS13E最大加力推力9.1吨。。。。
a15.gif
WS19验证机最大加力推力9.8吨 推比超过9,原型机初期10吨多 推比超过10
10吨多,之后还有增推计划,潜力还是有的。第一个增推计划可能到11吨。。。。。要知道这个原型机9.8吨最大加力推力 推比超过9 还是包括了轴对称矢量喷管重量的。

进度理想的话 2025年能用上。。。。。

Summary (please correct if wrong):
  • WS-13E prototype has a max thrust of 9.1 tons
  • WS-19 demonstrator has a max thrust of 9.8 tons and a TWR of >9 (this includes the added mass of the axisymmetric TVC nozzle actuators)
  • WS-19 prototype has (or will have?) a max thrust of 10 tons, initially, and a TWR of >10
  • WS-19's thrust will be increased in the future, with the first incremental goal of 11 tons of maximum thrust
  • WS-19 might enter service in 2025, if development can remain smooth

I am more interested in any WS-13 variant entering service with any plane, anywhere. That whole engine family project seems to be a stillborn...

It was started as a backup for the JF-17 and is now also a what-if for the FC-31.

Why would either plane use it when Russia remains reliable for RD-93s and no customers want the FC-31 in its current state?

That said, the stealth UCAV from SAC seems to be using it so it does have some utility. It was also an important practise project for 624th and laid the experience foundation for the WS-19.

Could you provide a link, or a screen capture for the record, instead of cutting up what pb19980515 said into quotes?

The thread is about figuring out the mass of the J-20 and the FC-31, but later on also about engines with comments from gongke and pb.
Kinda interesting, but mostly futile to try to calculate these things with the data available to civilians. The dude does several linear density comparisons with other aircraft getting the J-20's mass to between 17.2 and 19.1 tonnes. The reason this value varies is because different jets all have different densities, which kinda implies that J-20, being a very new jet and the only Chinese jet on his list of known densities, could have a unique density that is not on that spectrum.

Anyway, his low estimate also put the FC-31 at 13.025 tonnes while Shenyang has revealed the actual mass to be 12.5 tonnes. Percentage-wise, his lowest estimate was 4.24% higher than the given value so that applied to J-20 puts the J-20 at 16.48 tonnes... if Chengdu were equal to Shenyang in weight-saving technology. From what we know (some engine insider whose name I cannot recall), AL-31X J-20's empty weight is below that of the Su-27, which is 16.38 tonnes. Another unverified source had reported that from his interviews at Chengdu, J-20's mass was controlled to sub 16 tonnes. To the best of my knowledge, there are no more leaks on J-20's weight.

For anyone concerned about the lack of news on the WS-15, don't be. Pupu, arguably the largest "big shrimp" in the Chinese engine industry, says the WS-15 is progressing very well and that there is no need for worry.
