Small news on its own, but kind of playing into the narrative. Best illustrated by this absurd piece in the BBC

IMO, trash reporting by the BBC. First and foremost, these recruiters are going to rural villages Uighur or not. One of the hypothesized reasons behind the Foxconn suicides from a few years ago was being away from home, so it doesn’t target Uighurs specifically.

Second, the incredible contradiction between Western social attitudes and political stances at play here is kind of ridiculous.

One of the elements of this poverty reduction strategy is knock on effects of the working people sending money home. This additional money will improve their home economy which was otherwise subsistence farming.
There was a relatively recent example of this:

Of course you can argue whether this is a wise spending decision, but it was supported by the locals.
Furthermore, this was being built in a Miao minority area (related to Hmong people. Maybe the CCP can point out that Hmong people are amongst the poorest minorities in the USA?)

Second, its incredibly common for such programs in a place like Canada to prop up indigenous youth since they have difficultly finding employment. I have yet to hear anyone call this "cultural genocide" (maybe because it already happened).

Finally, after the armchair liberal outrage over women not being able to legally drive in Saudi Arabia until recently, I can't imagine why anyone would support a teenager being married off into what is likely an arranged marriage with no other choice in life besides mother/homemaker (as mentioned by the CGTN response).
Apple should be kicked out of China if they continue like this. The deal from the start was that China would allow Apple inside the country and make HUGE amounts of money but in return would use domestic suppliers in order to facilitate a supply ecosystem.

Now if Apple starts altering the deal (Muh Xinjiang etc) and cutting of chinese suppliers, China should absolutely kick it out of the country.

Apart from this, Apple is a very overrated and overpriced product. Banning them would be akin to saving Chinese publics money.

A more subtle way would be getting Tencent to go against Apple's app store policies to force it to remove wechat from the iPhone. Then there will be a mass migration to other OS'.

Didn't you said: what did the sanctions accomplished in China?

Lmao I dont understand what are you trying to insinuate by making all these statements. You are obviously invested in the idea that the sanction will "destroy" China.

As i said in previous posts the tech war sanctions wont fundamentally harm China core tech future prospects. Apple picks various suppliers and then integrates them together. The Apple is not a "too-big-to-fail" company in China.

If Apple is actively dismissing Chinese suppliers due to US sanctions then the chinese suppliers could sue it (as per the new law, btw the new Financial Court has been just set up in Beijing for these cases exactly).

If this doesn't work then China could soft ban it. No need for iphones in the Chinese market, another phone company would take its place in the market.

So your loaded questions about the US sanctions are not applicable here. There are many avenues for China to address them and in a short-medium term to advance domestic tech faster (if Apple gets soft banned on iphones and their iOS)

On the other hand, all this conversation is only if Apple is doing this due to US sanctions. If it due to market dynamics then the domestic wanna be iphones suppliers should be more competitive and stop whining

It's standard practice in Chinese poverty alleviation programs to match labour in poor inland areas with factories in coastal provinces.

I recommend everyone who hasn't watched 山海情/Minning Town to watch the show (23 episodes so a quick watch). It's about poverty alleviation in Ningxia, and one subplot involves a government program sending local women to work in an electronics factory in Fujian. The show is English subbed but non-Mandarin speakers might have to pause to read the subtitles as people speak fast. It really is one of the best Chinese TV shows in recent years.

Actually one Uyghur poster on Zhihu recommended the show and remarked on the similarity between the show and the situation in rural Xinjiang.
