Its still the job for 100ks+ of factory workers in China, let the US dumpster it's credibility, I don't think ordinary Chinese blue collar should suffer to prove a point.

It wouldn't be to prove a point; that wouldn't be worth it. It would be to further damage the US economy. If the CCP calculates that more can push the US economy over some edge where recovery becomes unlikley or the short term damage would open up some other oppertunity for China, then it's worth it.

Why would you put pressure on high tech industries then? The US tariffs are now hitting low value added industries such as clothing or low end manufacturing, "plastic junk" as they would call it. Isn't this the exact stuff China want offshored?

Its a good thing Americans want to get paid minimum wage to make Nike shoes, keep the Chinese computer industries intact and competitive.
