Chinese Economics Thread

Here's an easier to read summary, plus this one isn't in all caps.
This makes me a bit uneasy, isn't this just Westernisation of the Chinese economy? As a master economist once remarked, consumption actually adds not one iota to the GDP of a country by its own definition. The nation's consumption is how much of its annual production is actually consumed by the populace rather than used for other purposes such as savings and investment.

There's still hundreds of millions living on less than $10 per day?

Increasing their consumption will result in a measurable and worthwhile increase in living standards.

The Chinese economy has long been westernized except the "Chinese characteristics". The ultimate goal of economic development is to improve the living conditions of all Chinese. Becoming the number one in GDP and the invincible manufacturing superpower of the world, is just a nice byproduct of that endeavour.

Until communism is realized, there is no way around the markets for consumption to take place.

The policies shown are those that boosts quality of life instead of consumption for consumption's sake.

Productivity must be channeled towards use cases that improve people's lives. If people aren't benefitting from the production, then what's the use? Money sitting in savings accounts is even more useless, and investments cannot produce returns if there is no consumption.

Russia imposes fees to stem flood of low-cost Chinese cars

I guess it was inevitable that Russia would try to help their own brands as they feel like they have more leverage against China, now that relations with the US are warming up. My question: are these domestic automakers are competitive with Chinese OEMs?

My understanding is that most Chinese car exports to Russia are ICE and not EV. But even Chinese ICE cars are probably way better than Russian ones these days. These tariff wars just seem stupid to me.
Can you blame Russia? I think not.
Every country is lookikg after their national interest. So i think it's normal.
