@AssassinsMace , you often write angry frustrated takes in response to news which is hard for people to decipher what you're actually conveying.

Can you tone it down a bit, or at least write things in a way that doesn't need others to understand what you are thinking to understand what you're writing?

Does anyone know why there is a lack of large Chinese MNCs in certain sectors like hospitality, F&B, theme parks, shopping malls etc?

I'm mainly referring to what I see overseas.

Yes, you can actually find a lot of Chinese companies in those sectors (some are even pretty large), but they're mostly one-off ventures and not globally/regionally recognized chains.

The largest "Chinese" hotel chain I know is Shangri-La, and that was founded by a Malaysian in Hong Kong. Where is the Chinese equivalent of Hilton, Hyatt, Intercontinental? Or the Chinese equivalent of Carrefour, Aeon, Walmart?

Is this a structural issue? Perhaps China is just not focusing on services yet and will consolidate when it does in the future? Or issues with international marketing due to cultural differences? Anybody have any insight to this?

Dalian Wanda used to be pretty big globally -- they had and still have huge malls, they bought the biggest American theater chain, AMC, made it a lot better and have hotels around the world -- before their version of overleveraging like Evergrande caught up with them and they retreated globally.

They are still very big in China in pretty much everything you listed -- malls, entertainment, hotels, etc.

Kaiyuan Hotels are pretty big in China with many High-star hotels.

In terms of theme parks, there are quite a lot of regional theme parks in China, like the Atlantis in Hainan, the Happy Valley, the Fangte. But they don't have the IPs like Disney, Lego or Universal, mostly just stand alone parks.

Fantawild. They have one of the largest themeparks in China and the "Boonie Bears" trademark with TV series on CCTV and a movie franchise that made over $1B:
