Hi steel21,

Do you think Biden can have a working relationship with Republican especially in the Senate? Will McConnell grant him a stimulus bill knowing his opposition when Trump ask for one?

Hi steel21,

Judging by how McConnell constantly try to demolish the Obama presidency, there isn't a lot of good will between them. So that personality and private relationship path is dim.

McConnell short term goal would be retain the Senate and make gains in the house during the 2022 mid-term election. So from a structural interest and political objective perspective, the answer is also no.

McConnell would likely allow for the passage of a stimulus after extracting maximum returns for rural constituents while sustaining political division between rural and urban Americans.

So yes, a stimulus would pass, but only after all the scabs have been ripped open and animus has been added to the 2022 calculus.

And WTF a stimulus will do for us in the long term? Nada.

Is there a path for the GOP and DEMs to work together to heal and compete effectively against China? NO, there is NOT. Because, the first move would be to admit that:

1. Perhaps planned economy does work.
2. American simply does not work as hard as Asians.
3. Americans are not uniquely innovative.

Are you going to vote for someone who tells you that you are not worthy and needs to be more Asian? Is that a viable marketing strategy?

NO

Hi Nobonita Barua,

The pandemic cost him the election:rolleyes:, The grudge he hold against China is due to this. He had gain more votes especially from Hispanic and had solidify his grip on his base. Overall a good election outcome if you count the gain the Republican had on the congressional and senatorial seats. Now he is a king maker and all ambitious Republican politician need to kowtow to him. He can control the agenda and future direction of the Republican party, that's what make him more dangerous. Trumpism is here to stay and I wish the American is smart enough to know the danger they face.

I heavily doubt democrats will lose second term, even with everything that has happened.

I'm afraid Joe Biden may not finish his term and Kamala Harris don't have the intelligence for the job, she his a puppet of Walled Street establishment. The present antics of Trump is just a precursor , preparing himself for his eventual return in 2024, he is laying the ground work, the problem and blame he will lodge to the democrats when they assume power, even though most of it is his own making.
That the thing with Trump, he isn't a Republican loyalist. Worst case is that he tried to join 24 Republican primary, failed and decided to build a 3rd party that siphoned vote from Republicans.

If you parse the tea leaves, there are core similarities between the Sander's crowd and Trump's MAGA agenda. They go about it separately, but both are under-informed and disgruntle.

What we are seeing is perhaps the inversion of both the far right and far left towards the center. This is probably the worst political scenario for Americans.

Fundamentally, both Sander and Trump supporters are anti establishment, believing they have been unfairly marginalized by globalization. Both seeks to fleece the system to make up for their grievances, Sander's guys wants more support from the government, and Trump want business to shift back to America, both are dead ends. There is not enough growth and funding to support the masses the Sander's way, and there is insufficient leverage/incentives to get businesses to reinvest in fly over America.

Trump is a political brand now. He need not run himself. Ivanka might make a better candidate than he does in 2024.

Ivanka can't really riled up excitement like Trump can. Unless daddy campaigned for her. Saw some CNN report interviewing Trump's supporters, a number of them already considered Fox News to be leftist and they are moving on to OAN and Alex Jones. Crazy.

I'm quite sure it will be like what happened under Obama. Republicans will obstruct all the way and in the end nothing gets done
It'll be worse. Under Obama, there wasn't the whole "you stole our election" bit and cross-party relations both in the government and between the people were more stable and civil. This is a much tougher situation handed to a less much less charismatic leader than Obama.

But she is more polished.

And let's face it, the white male conservatives that are the bed rock of Trump support would find her....... appealing.

So she has the benefit of picking up some:
- Suburban middle class, based on her moderate stance and sophistication
- Some of the female vote in both rural and urban setting, since she never grabbed any by the vagina.
- Still shouldering the Trump brand.
While keeping daddy's core supporters around, for the eye candy.

Think Nikki Haley, a Trump ally and eye-candy, serves as a more realistic and competent pick than Ivanka.

Realistically the party picks someone like Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley, or Mike Pompeo though.

If white male conservatives consider her just another pretty face, then they wouldn't come out to support her like they did for Trump. I don't feel like Ivanka has the charisma to rally the base.
