HANGZHOU, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese naval hospital ship "Peace Ark" set sail on Monday for a humanitarian medical mission in Kiribati, Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and East Timor.

This is the first time a Chinese naval vessel will visit Kiribati and Solomon Islands, and carry out humanitarian medical services there.

According to the plan, the hospital ship will dock at one port in each country, providing week-long medical services free of charge for local people, personnel from Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese.

Exchanges and professional seminars with relevant countries will also be conducted as part of this mission.

The hospital ship has 126 medical staffers, and boasts 26 clinical departments and 7 auxiliary departments. It is capable of carrying out more than 40 kinds of examinations, treatments, and operations in general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology and other disciplines.

"Peace Ark" is the first standard ocean-going maritime hospital independently designed and built by China. Since its entry into service in 2008, the hospital ship has visited 43 countries and regions, provided medical services for more than 250,000 patients and performed more than 1,500 surgeries on voyages covering over 260,000 nautical miles.

SHANGHAI, July 3 (Xinhua) -- When you enjoy the companionship of pets at home, have you ever thought about the more meaningful things they can do? Wu Qi, a pet trainer in his 30s, have demonstrated their immense potential, as his team has trained over 300 dogs, most of which are pets, to help humans in need.

In a support center for the elderly with cognitive disorders in Shanghai's Fengxian District, the seniors warmly greeted the adorable therapy dogs upon their arrival.

Assisted by dedicated volunteers, the dogs participated in a range of interaction and activity-based rehabilitation training. These sessions include exercises tailored to aid the elderly in muscle recovery, with some focused on enhancing communication skills and self-expression.

These aerial photos shows a view of Guangyang Isle in southwest China's Chongqing, July 3, 2023. Located at the most extensive green island in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Guangyang Isle, covering around 10 square km, has a vegetation coverage rate of over 90 percent, and 594 species of plants and 452 species of animals have been recorded.

But its ecological system and biodiversity were severely damaged due to a number of aggressive real estate projects that had lasted for years. In 2017, the commercial activities were stopped and the local government began to restore the ecological system of the island, which sits in the Three Gorges Reservoir area.

The Global Digital Economy Conference 2023 kicked off on Tuesday, exhibiting in two domestic venues in Beijing and Lhasa, and an oversea venue in Singapore.
