The annual Qixi Festival, or Chinese Valentine's Day, falls on August 22 this year. Online "Qixi" has been seeing a surge since the end of July.
By Aug 18, the hashtag #Qixi had been used 66.19 billion times on short video-sharing platform Douyin.
Going to exhibitions, listening to concerts, visiting creative markets, stargazing, visiting parks wearing hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) and riding around the city have become popular activities for young people during this year's Qixi Festival.
